Yesterday a employee who works with my husband decided to put a couple of outrigger teams together to compete in the corporate race. She is really fit and thought the IT Engineers could use a challenge. The race is 150 meters and a 5 person team. I received an email asking for wives involvement. So I sent an email off saying yeah team go go go!. Well when my husband got home he told we have our team of 5. So innocently I said great who are they? Of course the reply was your on my team. Now today I have try to get fit in preparation for this. I am looking ofrward to the challenge, but wouldn't mind some advise to help me towards this goal. I assume upper body strength is the key? Help Help please I certainly don't want to burst my lungs. And I have no idea how many heats there will and definately I have no concept on how far 150 meters is.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what an outriggers competetion even is. It sounds like fun though..anything that pits co-workers against one another is a blast!
Just being generally fit, and building stamina would be a good place to start I would guess. That way you won't just fall down go boom?
Good luck and have fun!

Thanks. I guess another name for outriggers is Dragon Boat Racing. ( But I have been told that sports people that do this dislike the term Dragon Boats). Yeah one thing I don't want to do is die gasping half way or even worse a third of the way
