Do you believe in prayer or is it just something some people do to make themselves feel better?

I used to when I was little. I do sometimes when I am in danger or in trouble.
:-( but I do teach my children how to pray.

I believe in God and I believe that he listens to our prayers. He doesn't always answer them the way we want Him to, but He knows better than we do. God has answered many, many of my prayers and I feel blessed in so many ways.

yes i pray a lot,
whenever i am free and i have time, i pray.
whenever i am sad or happy,i always pray.
because praying is the way to communicate with god.
we should be thankful that we are alive and healthy.
praying makes you feel better when you are sad and lonely.
good day..happy posting

I try to pray everyday and I do believe that prayer helps. Praying is the only way that you can have a one on one discussion with god and tell him all of your cares and concerns. You also when you pray should thank him for what he has given to you and your family. Many people forget to thank him and thats an important part of praying.

I pray but not nearly as often as I should. The Bible promises us that if God's people humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, that He will hear from Heaven and heal their land. Why to we neglect prayer when we have a promise like that? Probably because we can't bring ourselves to meet the requirements he sets about humbling ourselves and turning from our wicked ways. It would be wonderful if we all tried it for a while. Maybe we would see a totally different society.

You are so right. The more you pray I believe the more he will do for you.

I don't usually pray, because I don't believe it's necessary. If the Christian God, who knows absolutely everything, exists, doesn't he already know when you need something and already know if you're thankful or when you're sorry? I don't believe that, in the case that what the Christian faith says regarding him being very very kind, that he would sadistically make us beg him for things he already knows we want, or beg forgiveness for things he already knows we're sorry for. I suppose that's why I'm not Christian anymore. It never makes sense. =(

Yes, I believe in its ability to make the person praying better (that's half the battle). I believe that God created doctors, nurses and healers to help us while on earth, rather than send His son to us again. I know that praying helps me sort out my feelings and soothes me; I can pray about things that I'd never think about discussing with anyone else. My method of prayer involves just silently talking with God; I recite the prayers in church, but they're rote--I recite them without always meaning them.

i pray a lot. even if i am just doing a house chores, taking a shower just a simple everyday i pray to thank the Lord and give Him praises. This is to show i delight in Him and i Love Him.
Prayer is not just something i do the first thing i wake up, before i eat my meals and before i end my day, not only to ask Him for something but to thank Him and praise Him as well. Prayer does make you feel good especially if you have any problems or you feel blue and incomplete, that's because God comforts you.
