Wow was this stuff expensive. $8.54 for a box of 100 packs. They also make it in liquid form but I did not see the liquid at Walmart. I wanted to try something different in my coffee and I think Why not save some calories? It is made from a plant/herb and its ZERO calories :)It is also high fiber. If you want to resd about it,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia
When I googled it one website said that it was sweeter than sugar and you don't need to use that much. Some sites said there was a sort of Licorce aftertaste. I just tried it and had to use 2 and half packs and it's not sugar but I did not notice any aftertaste at all in my coffee. I will see how it tastes though in a few days because sometimes my tastebuds pick up things a few days later, but so far so good :) I have tried splenda in the past but the texture of it and the aftertaste really grossed me out. Equal and sweet n low are not too bad but there is a yucky aftertaste to me. Too bad this stuff is soo expensive though. Hopefully will be well worth it.

I just posted about this on another discussion. If the price turns you away go to the local nursery and see if they have a plant you can grow yourself. They work as indoor and outdoor plants, although they do better outdoors, and they are fairly cheap that way. The only thing is the powder will be green, of course, since you are using it in its purest form.

I wonder how to break it off though in plant form to put in coffee. Do you know?

I have tried Stevia and I like. I realize that is expensive, but worth the price. To have the taste of sugar without actually using is a good thing. And it doesn't have all the phony stuff the artificial sweeteners have. I just love it.

I really thought it was fine. But I just can't bring myself to use now. I use too much to try to make it taste like the sugar and it doesnt. lol.

I like stevia in hot beverages, like coffee or hot tea, but it lumps up and won't dissolve properly in cold ones... just a head's up. I worked at a health food restaurant where stevia was available on all the tables and dozens of times I had to replace someone's hibiscus mint tea because they put stevia in it and found themselves with chunks of white stuff that wouldn't dissolve in their glass. Great for anything warm though, and a heck of a lot healthier than artificial sweetener.

Thanks for the info, Thanks to everyone actually. :) I'm bad at keeping up with my own discussions which is why I don't start amny anymore. hehe. I drank coffee with the Stevia and it was alright.. and than it just did not taste right and I have not been able to use it all day and instead used sugar. I don't understand how I have read that it's 30 times sweeter than regular sugar. I had to use 2 and half packs of it and it still did not match the taste of the 2 or sometimes 3 little teaspons of sugar I use. Maybe I will try some more later. The one I bought was called sweetleaf and it's the powder. The website is www.sweetleaf.com which was on the box.
