How Much should your Boyfriend spend on a wedding/Engagement ring?

Have you seen the commerciel whare the couple are getting married and it says
Engagemnet ring...... 9000.00 dollars
Flight from Tokyo 6000.00
Flight from Chicago.....1400.00
Meeting your future in laws Priceless?
I think $9000.00 dollars is ridiculous amount of money to spend on a ring! what do you think, How much would you expect your ring to cost, or if you have one how much did it cost if you know?

If a person can afford $9000.00 then no its not a lot to spend. But most people I know cant afford that much. You can only give as much as you have. So thats how much a man should spend on a ring. As much as he can afford. My ring cost $80 but thats all we could afford. I love it.

I think that is beautiful I would love an $80.00 ring just as much as a $9000.00 ring, As long as it came from love!

I agree, it is ridiculous unless you are fabulously rich! I think that he should get what he can comfortably afford or save up for for a couple of months. Going into debt for a ring is silly and impractical.
