I am a single mom that has been looking into buying my first house. I have tried calling all kinds of crazy numbers, getting tapes for mucho money and contacted many 1-80000000 numbers without finding a solution. Am i the only single mom with that problem? being a single mom is bad enough, being black doesn't help at all with the credit and banking liability and i really would like to hear from other women out there with the same money problems

I'm not single, a mom, or a woman for that matter. But I know that there is no additional credit or banking liability for any race. You should speak face to face with a mortgage broker. They will work out your debt/income ratio to determine how much of a payment you could afford. They'll check your credit and go over ways to increase it if need be. Just open the phone book and schedule an appointment. They'll be glad to see you. If they're not, just pick up the book and go down the list. Don't spend another dime trying to qualify for a home. It's a free service that brokers can do for you. Incidentally, they do ask about race on the mortgage application. That's a federal requirement that the question be asked. That's because the government wants to make sure that certain banks aren't favoring certain races. It is absolutely illegal for any mortgage company to discriminate based on race. In fact, you'll sign at least two disclosures that say that you were not discriminated against! If the broker doesn't give you a copy of your credit report, go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com This is NOT a subscription service. It is a free credit check directly from the government. It's your right to see what's on your credit history. If you'd like to learn more about mortgages and credit, visit my Blog in my Profile. Best of luck!

Believe it or not, order or buy one of those "Free Money From The Government!" books. They really do have legit sources in there that have grants, low interest/no interest loans for minorities and single moms. (you qualify 3x's, black, female, and being a single mom.) You should have no problem finding some form of government assistance loan or program.
