I disagree that money can't buy happiness. Yes, you have to have the ingredients for happiness to begin with (family, friends, etc), but with money, you remove the stress factor that causes depression for millions of people. No debt, no worrying about finances, security. Money can most defiantely buy happiness. Me, if I had that kind of money ... the first thing I would do is move my family to a smaller town, closer to my parents. I'd buy a nice sized house, big enough for each of my kids to not have to share a room, but small enough that I could still clean it, lol. I'd buy my parents a bigger house, with a gorgeous yard, probably outside of town where my dad could fish nonstop. I'd buy my sister and her girls a house, so she didn't have to worry about finances anymore. I'd hire my kids a private tutor and start travelling, living off the interest of the remainder of the money. When my kids hit the right ages, they'd have the cash to go to whatever university they liked, to buy a proper house to start their families, etc. I'd be blissfully happy for the rest of my life, lol. My one selfish desire that I'd put in action with the money is to buy a building and start an animal rescue service. Considering they're not for profit, a good deal of capital is needed to do it right. With that kind of money, I could happily take care of animals day in and day out, finding better homes for them, playing with the mutts and cuddling with cats. I'd even take snakes and ferrets. ;) Yup, money can buy happiness.

Like I said, you need to have the key ingredients before hand, but money removes the main factor that leads to family stress, depression, anger, etc ... lack of money. The issue wasn't whether or not money buys love. It was whether money buys happiness. So my kids loving me now or not is irrelevant. Are they happy? Yes. Am I happy? Yes. Am I always happy? No. There are plenty of times that financial stress causes me stress, depression, anything BUT happiness. Money would fix that, therefore, money can buy happiness.

If I have a million dollar in cold cash, I would get the first plane to Amanpulo, Palawan. It's a real paradise and I like to spend a long vacation there. After that I would shop till I drop. And I would save the remaining money so I could use something for emergency. And also give my mom some money to pay her debts.
