in ireland we have 6 weeks of Lent .it is a religious time and mass is said several times a day which people try to attend more in Lent. we usually pick soomething in our lives to give up i.e smoking , drinking, swearing . or we can take up something like helping others , going to mass. what would you like to give up and could you last 6 weeks.in the middle of lent we have saint patricks day where you can use that day to take that drink , eat thst chocolate but the next day you must go back to your sarcrifice.it ends on easter sunday . have you heard of lent ?

Can you describe the method of lent in your country please. I am orthodox christian and I'd like to know your traditions in lent. Please if you agree to send me a message to read it more easily.
Best regards

well, it starts on ash wednesday and we go to mass and get ashes on our forehead. lent is the season of repentance when we either give up something we love for forty days or we take up going every day to mass .a lot of irish people give up drink for forty days . it ends at easter time.it imitates jesus'withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days.we also fast on ash wednesday and good friday which is the beginning and end of lent.fasting means two small meals in the day and abstainance of meat .

yeah we are supposed to not eat meat but i often cheat . its all the same here. my brother lives in florida and he has gotten away from his religion. but he says they are very devout catholics there and sometimes they wont let their kid play with yours if you dont practise your religion. to me this is wrong and not very christian.we have holy communion and confirmation. my son is taking his holy communion in may this year.

yes, i'm from the Philippines, and Catholic. We call it Holy Week, in which, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are non-working holidays. It also ends on Easter Sunday. The Lenten Season starts on Ash Wednesday, several weeks before the Holy Week, and from that day onwards, eating of meat during Fridays is discouraged. On Good Friday, there are re-enactments of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and a lot of people who want to do penance do this.
