Internet hacked (Did anyone noticed?)

well this was the title of a blog i jus read on the washington post, it says 13 root servers were attacked ,the attack began on tuesday 5.30 am eastern time and lasted for 12 hours, it is said that it is the worst attack after the october 2002 attack.The interestinf thig is that the day of the attack also marked the 4th aniversary of the "Safer Internet Day", This attack is not very severe coz of the improved distribution of internet that previous .did anyone felt or experienced any thing like thins on the mentioned period, or anyone know more info . plz post.

No I didn't notice it but as security improves the effects of wide range attacks gets less, still the problem is much bigger in targeting a single site or server, popular sites like mylot for instance may be target for nasty DDOS attacks (Distributed Denial Of Service) and although there's protection against it they cost the site a lot of money in wasted bandwidth.. there are tougher laws now against cyber crimes but there should be a "cyber Interpol" too because some countries doesn't have laws against such activities and cyber terrorists can attack from "safe" places around the world.
