My daughter is 6 weeks pregnant. She just came up to me on the computer to tell me she is bleeding.I'm so frightened for her.She has called an ambulance and is on her way to the hospital.I feel so helpless being so far away from her.Now is a time when she needs her mum (she is 18) and I'm not there. She said the blood was light and watery but she is not cramping,I'm so hoping it's not a miscarriage.I'm so scared ;(

Hold onto hold. My third pregnancy I bled lightly for the first 6 months of the pregnancy. And my seventh pregnancy, I stood up and blood pour so badly, I was standing in a puddle. But when I went to the hospital, I was told that the baby and I were fine.
How we could be fine after that much blood...I didn't believe them!
But the pregnancies were ok and I had very healthy children.
If anything, as long all is well, I would tell her to take it easy and rest a lot!
I hope to hear good news soon!!!
Hang in there hun, I know I would want to be there for my daughter too!

That is wonderful news Nikki. I should have stayed on computer after I logged off as I was awake for ages worrying about her. I can do a happy dance now :)

I'm so relieved to hear that she and the baby are fine. It's wonderful that she is coming to live with you so soon. You will be able to share all the joys of pregnancy and be a great support system for her.

I hope everything turns out well. Sometimes there is bleeding during a pregnancy and it turns out to be nothing. I hope that this is the case for your daughter. Its makes it hard if you can't be there. Is there anyone with her? I'll keep her and you in my thoughts and I am sending you a cyber hug {{{{ausnikki}}}}. try to keep busy until you hear from her. I know it will seem like an eternity. Please keep us updated.

ausnikki, I experienced this in early stages of both my pregnancies and was convinced I was losing them, but with bed rest I was okay and pregnancies continued although one was 3 weeks early and the other 8 weeks early, but was told this is quite normal!

Oh I do hope that your daughter will be alright and not lose her baby it is very frightening for us mother's when we are so far away from our babies when they are in this predicament and they really need us to be there for them but we can't as we live so far away from them.

Light bleeding, or spotting, is much more common in early pregnancy than people realize. It is not always a sign of miscarriage. Its good that she's going to the doctor to get it checked out to be sure but both you and her should stay calm and not worry. Usually during a miscarriage there is heavy red (not watery) bleeding and cramping.
I hope she's okay and i think she probably is.

Oh my. Well remember that not all bleeding means miscarriage, and that there's no cramps is an excellent sign.

I realize this discussion is now ten hours old but I wanted to add that in my first pregnancy I started bleeding at around three months. It turned out to be nothing and my baby was perfectly healthy when she was born. Sometimes there is a little bleeding during pregnancy and some people even have their periods when they are pregnant so hopefully it is just something like this. Please keep us posted on how everything goes. I'm praying for the best for you and her :)

It is just right for you get worried because youa re her mother. Maybe she is having a spotting or something but the best way to know is really to go to a physician and chech her out. With this month, most likely that the child will be delivered prematurely if worst comes to worst. But the good news is that most baby who are born during this time already survives in the incubators.

I'll keep you and your daughter in my prayers as well. Some bleeding during the early weeks of pregnancy is not all that uncommon and does not always indicate a miscarriage. The fact that she isn't cramping is also a good sign. I have had six children and with my third I did not even suspect pregnancy until 14 weeks because of off and on bleeding that would last for several days to week at a time and also got heavy at times. Hang in there until you hear from her. I'm sure she knows you'd be there if you could

Hi mel,my daughter is fine. She has been checked by the doctor and had blood tests. He thinks the bleeding was caused by her having a rare blood type (ARH-) and her age (18) but all is well and she is coming home tonight.Well technically tomorrow morning, they will be here at about 2am lol

This is now kind of old ausnikki but I have read through all the responses and comments, and am so pleased to hear that Sara is doing fine now, and the baby is okay too. It is always a very worrying time when this happens and I am sure that as a mother it is worse when your daughter is away from home. I can remember when our son left home and he got sick, ending up as an inpatient but it took the military 10 days before it happened. On the Sunday I told him he had to go back to the Hospital and this time they admitted him, then phoned to let me know. It was late on Sunday, so I couldn't do anything the but the next day the phone lines burned up with one very irate mother. So, with mothering comes worry but I think that we all accept that as part and parcel of having children that we love dearly. The situation is of course made worse when we are so far away from them, and that also makes us feel very helpless.
I am delighted to hear that Sara and Chris are returning back south to live with us and your son. That will be wonderful for all of you, and the thought of having a new baby in the house in September sounds really exciting. No doubt you will have a wonderful time planning the nursery etc.
Actually I have just realised that Sara and Chris will be with you tomorrow, Wednesday. Silly me for saying this, but do try to get some sleep tonight my friend Nikki but somehow suspect that if you do it will be a very restless sleep because of the excitement.
We look forward to the updates from time to time as to how things are progressing, and in the meantime have a wonderful time with Sara and Chris as you get to know him. :)

I'm glad to hear that your daughter is doing a lot better. I would feel better though if she instisted on an ultrasound - just to be sure. I know it's not normal rotinue for the ER to do it and I'm not sure if her doctor did. I'm assume though she is on the ARH- shots now too. I wish her all luck in the world :)
