Windows 98 is good.. but not better than xp. Xp has its own problems liks as you said there are more attack of viruses in xp than 98. But the user interface is really good in xp than 98. The visual effect is also fantastic. Lots of new application programs can be used with xp. for programming languages also, xp is the best. I think .NET can be used with xp only. You can use Norton Antivirus and use xp. Further you can even upgrade to Windows Vista now which is far better than 98, 2000, NT or XP. Sometimes XP can get really slower and that it is the demerit of it. Try two operating systems in your system. I have Windows 98 and XP BOTH IN MY 40 gb computer. you can also follow the same way. Your dad can use 98 whereas you can use XP. Cheers Nithya

Thanks for selecting my reply as the best response! I heard windows vista is excellent and it comes with new computers in a pre installed way. So, if you are in any idea of buying a new computer, try with pre installed Windows vista. Also, the IE is very stable and virus resistant to a large extent in Vista I heard! Cheers Nithya

Why do you talk about things you don't know? Vista is not good. It uses way to much computer power, like RAM and processor. It ask you ten thousand questions if you want to change your screen resolution. It must be activated every month. It will slow down every computer that is not up to date anno 2007. My tips: Use XP, Mac or change to Linux!!
