Judge Judy and and an Ebay Scam

Judge Judy at her mean best. Did anyone see the TV show the other day day where one Ebay buyer was suing the seller? The lady bought 2 cell phones for over $400.00 when she received the package it was an envelope with a photo of the two cell phones!! Of course the seller insisted she got was she ordered it said it was only a photo. The buyer came well prepared with a copy of the Ebay ad and of course it had the item description and photo. The seller was snooty and unrepentant (it also came out she was being sued for another EBay scam). Judge Judy was nearly jumping out of her chair she was so mad at the seller's attitude. It ended in a typical Judge Judy way..."Madam you are a thief...pay up"
How do you feel about this?

I certainly hope someone from ebay was watching that show.
I have seen several sellers who were basically ripoff artists, who would get a few orders, not deliever, and then just start another store under a differenct name. I ahve thought about starting a blog about scammers so that people could write their experiences without being limited to the small space provided by ebay.
Now, if you purchase using paypal you get more room to type in your complaint, but only you and the folks at paypal see that.

I think that is nasty to sendpictures in the place of the actual cell phones. Like anyone in their right minds is going to pay that much for some lousy photos. What a scam! She should have had to pay up and got knocked on the head with Judy's gavel if you ask me.

Dang, I missed it. It must have been such a funny one. She can really be a beast, can't she? But, that is what draws all the viewers, and makes her the bucks. She is the meanest judge on tv. I don't know why those people would even want to go before her. However, she is very sweet when young children are involved. Blessings, M&M

You'd think, right? But the seller's defense remained that it wasn't her fault the buyer doesn't know how to read. It was a total scam.

Dont let this put you off Ebay. It is excellent and I have bought many items there and only been disapointed once.

Gooo Judy!!
Sorry I missed that episode, but I appreciate you sharing it with us. Maybe I'll get lucky enough to catch that one on a rerun. That scamming seller had better be glad Judy isn't a criminal court judge, lol.

Ok first off my TV has been out all week and it's killing me because Judge Judy is my woman and I am so missing her!
I love it, Judy calls them like she sees them. If that woman was shady, then Judy called it right. Thanks for sharing this, no one here watches her so I haven't a clue about any of her cases.

I am glad that this kind of scam got to be showcased on a television show! These things happen way too often, and I think that putting this story on the air will make buyers more aware of auction policy. I loved this episode! I am a huge Judge Judy fan, and I think she lays down the law with a firm hand!

I saw that episode! I wished the seller's username for eBay would have been revealed. Judge Judy caught the seller in the lie because the seller noted that the phone weighed 4.9 oz and Judge Judy pointed out that the two photos combined didn't even come close to that weight. It's very interesting to learn how many eBay auctions become court cases on both Judge Judy and The People's Court.

But I think that if the seller clearly stated that it was a photo only and did not try to make it look like it was actually two cellphones, in that case it's the buyer that's an idiot, not the seller. Serves the buyer right for not reading the description.

What a bunch of losers. Only Nigerian scammers would sell those phones haha though the seller has more decensy than those Nigerians, the seller sent the items though it's not what the buyer expected. somehow It's just too good to be true just as reality shows could become nowadays.

I thought it was good. It is time that people stop getting away with scams. Her plan was to get money and keep it. Wasn't it funny the husband wouldn't come!! He knew what would happen!

Buyer beware! It is shameful that someone would scam like that. That is such a blatant criminal act. Of course it is theft, no matter how the seller worded it. People are allowed to rate the sellers and this is something that should be checked out before buying from them. I am preparing to sell several collections on ebay and I would never try to scam anyone. In the past when I sold something, the money was sent to me first and then the product was mailed out. That money was put into an account until the purchaser confirmed that they were satisfied with the product. Also, whenever the product is mailed it should be insured for the value so that if something happens, you are covered.
Shame on that scammer, they make it more difficult for all the honest sellers out there.

wow, how deviant is that. I'm glad the woman knew what her resources were in getting her to go to judge judy. I think those types of actions are what ruin the experience for some people. If that happened to me, I would be extremely hesistant to use ebay again. I'm glad the woman got what was coming to her.

I personally hate scammers especally when they try really hard to not make it seem like a scam. Anyways, that scammer got a wiff of justice and I'm just happy.
However, for some reason, I don't like Judge Judy. I guess it's just those typical tv dramas... Is it just me, or is it always like that in a real court room?

Actually, i love Judge Judy and quite often agree with her. However, there are times when i do disagree wtih het. THis was not one of them. The seller was an idiot and she deserved to pay DOUBLE what she had taken.
