I heard that bananas and grapes can make you gain a lot of weight if you eat a lot of it. It's friut. How can it make you gain weight? I eat a lot of bananas cuz I think its a healthy snack. But now that I heard this, I'm not so sure any more. Has anyone heard this? And if so, is it true? Is it good or bad that they make you gain weight?

I've never heard of that, so I searched the web a bit and found a lot of sites that promoted eating bananas and grapes during weight loss. One great site called PCRM (www.pcrm.org/health/prevmed/weightloss.html), has "A Guide to Healthy Weight Loss" and gives a low-fat vegan diet and has bananas and grapes on several days of the week. I didn't find any sites stating to avoid the two fruits. And thank goodness, because these are two of my faves!

Fruits also need to be consumed in moderation when starting out. Stick to fruits low in sugar and fructose, which the body readily stores as fat such as raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. Bananas, grapes, and pineapple are examples of fruits that should be avoided or eaten in small amounts.

bananas and grapes are full of sugar so eating lots of it will not only make you fat but eventually you risk to become diabetic. Having your blood saturated with glucose will cause your pancreas to produce insuline to balance your sugar level and after a life of this your pancreas might give up the struggle. But don't get too alarmed as this is just an extreme, still, try to stick to one banana a day as a breakfast then you'll be ok.

I had never heard of this, but I'm sure there are more healthy fruits that you could eat. I know there are a lot with less sugar than grapes and bananas. Still I don't think that you need to give them up completely. Just eat them in moderation and you should be fine. I lost 35 pounds and my son made me a banana smoothie nearly every day as a sweet treat.

Of all the fruits, bananas are among the most unhealthy. They contain between 70 - 120 calories per banana. In addition, there is a large amount of sugar, in the form of fructose, in fruit. This sugar, if eaten in vast quantities, is just as bad as sugar from sweets. I'd say that a banana a day would be more than sufficient, or a small bunch of grapes. Try to balance it out with lots of green vegetables, and citrus fruits to ensure you get a full range of vitamins.

These fruits are full of carbos because they have fructose in them. To lose weight, you should cut more on carbos and take ample protein coupled with exercise.
