hey sripriya, good topic. we are indians and for us the love is an evergreen feeling. our love is "barahmaasi". even we have a great importance of love in our culture and our religion too. we worship love when we worship Lord Krishna and Radha. so love is not amatter of a single day in our lives. so as i think we do not need any perticular day to show our love. valentine day has no significance for we the indians who have love flowing in their veins. but since it is celebrated to pay respect to the priest Saint Valentine who faught for the lovers and got them married even when the royal orders were against of it. so this is only to pay respect to a person who faught for lovers. so i think if we dont celebrate it its ok but dont oppose it too. bcz its also against of our culture. see, how great is our religion that do not ask us not to go to churches or mosques. we are free to attend any festvals or celebrations of any community. that is the thing we must proud about our culture and religion. i think its the true religion in all the sense. bcz a relgion frees the people. it makes us free and always for to unite the people not to devide them. it adopts all the good teachings of any religion. and this flexibility is the greatest quality about our culture and that is why we have a great existence of thousands of years. so do not oppose it. it is also a fact that the things which we oppose get more popularity bcz there developes a curiosity about these things in the mind of others which make them experience these things. and this also creates a bad image of our culture. isn't it.
and my dear friend , there is nothing to fear about our culture. our culture is greatest among all and nothing can hurt it. allways keep in mind... Hinduism is a universal set of many subsets. these subsets are the different communities. we adopt all the good things of all the cultures thats why we have allways a great collection of knowledge.
Afterall we believe in "Vasudhav Kutumbakam".-- The entire earth is a family. these are the things that make our culture greatest. we do not think about our family, religion , country but we think for the entire earth , the overall humanity. we think for the betterment and welfare of entire universe.

i dont think there is anything wrong in celebrating valentines day ,its the day where one person tells about his feeling to other person he/she loves ,i dont think there as anything wrong with it as our culture is going through changes already and it depends upon a person if wants to follow indian culture or western culture as we all are living in democractic free country ,where a person has right to express his desire

of course it should be celebrated in india. if two people like each other then what is the harm in their celebrating their valentines. as per our culture is concerned we must also remember that we are going global for modernization and if u give the reason as for the sake of indian culture the please try to stop the modernization and the growth also as it also affects the indian culture.

If the love is true, there is no need of a special day to celebrate it.
