splinter removal

this may sound like an odd request but Im looking for ways to remove a deep splinter cant get to it with tweezers,my grandma had an old wives remedy putt soap and suge mixed on it and bandage it it is supposed to draw it out .anyone else ever heard of this??I know this is an unusualk thing to ask on here but the darn thing is bothering me and i need help

you can try to soak it in epsom salt ...alot of times that will draw them out ,also the water will soak up into the wood and it is easier to grab with tweezers ..hopfully you can get it put then...they are a bother aren't they ...lol as for grandmas remedy ..I have never heard of that but it might very well work too ...

If it were me.. I would just leave it alone. Your body will push it out eventually. It will get up to the surface where you will be able to get it with tweezers. I used to get so many splinters as a kid. My mom would just leave the ones she couldn't reach. Easier said than done im sure. Ashley

would you believe im no kid 67 yrs old I got this durn thing holding on to my side rail on my front steps Guess i nee to get some sand paper to it cause this is not the first one its given me by the way thnks for the help ! it sure hurts!

yes and your grandmothers remedy works too. You can use magnesium sulphate to bring the splinter to the surface or even germalene as there both drawing ointments byut the skin will need to be broken for it to come through. My advice would be to put a plaster over it and let nature take its course this will bring it to the surface also good luck tc
