I just transferred to another school, and I want everyone to think that I'm French. I'm a liar, but that's fun, and that lie, I think, is pretty innocent since I have a good French accent. My aunt Gina said that when she went off to college, she used her full name (Regina). I guess it sounds more sophisticated? Haha, but she quickly realized that she hated being called Regina. I love those stories of fake reinvention. If you went off to college, or ever moved to another town, did you do that? Fresh slate, but I would think that maybe some people consider themselves interesting without untrue embellishments. Hmmm?

My brother and I used to do that all the time when we were on vacation or Disney World or really any place. It was a lot of fun. We would make up completely different lives and sometimes languages.

Well, if you really want them to think you are french you should probably talk with that accent. You know...you should probably watch the movie THE NEW GUY . He was a liar too...he went to a new school and he was the coolest there, but at the end...he was considered a liar because all the people found out about his real life.So it's better to be you for ever than to be someone for some thime...then to be called a liar.Hope this helps you.

I dont think you should hide who you are or try to change to way you are just so you will be popular or fit in. We were all meant to be different, not all be the same thing. Just be yourself

It might be fun at first but don't you think it takes up a lot of energy keeping up that fake French accent and then having to explain to people afterwards when you are evnetually found out? It could be fun if you knew you wouldn't have to stay there for a long time...and I think you should take a long term view of this.

I never had the urge to change my nationality, no. I've gone by different variations of my name, but that's just about it. Most of the time I really like the person I am. I agree with the be yourself sentiment from the poster above. But your behavior and thoughts do change. Your college years are all about discovering yourself. I don't see anything wrong with reinventing yourself if you didn't like how you acted in high school, but I think everyone has their own nature, you know? You can change your habits but you can't change who you are inside. Good luck at your new school.
