Do you prefer hard tooth brushes?

Ever since they came out with those horrible soft tooth brushes, I have been so disappointed. At first, I would always buy medium. Then that became hard to find. I hated soft. And the last time I went to the dentist, they gave my the ultra soft! I couldn't even use that as a cleaning brush.
A few weeks ago, I was at a store and saw a toothbrush that read "hard". I of course bought the thing! It came from Germany apparently. So, I brushed my teeth with it and there was blood everywhere. I thought I had finally met my match.
But now, a few weeks after buying it, I love this toothbrush! It doesn't take 15 minutes just to brush teeth. In 3 minutes, you're done with it and your teeth are so clean you have no need to floss.
So what idiot was it that wimped out and made these nice hard toothbrushes so hard to find for everyone?
Do you prefer hard tooth brushes? Or have you gotten used to the soft ones and accepted them?

I prefer a medium brush or a sonic care tooth brush. I think soft is too soft to do any good and a hard brush seems too painful.

Excellent points. I'd agree the soft is too soft to do any good (especially that lousy ultra soft the dentist gave me once). The hard brush was rather painful at first (it's kind of funny, but I'm using it with some of that toothpaste for sensitive teeth, hehe).

I always buy us the medium ones. I haven't (luckily) had any problems finding them here. I think I too would buy the hard over the soft. I agree - they're too soft. I usually use the ones I get from the dentist as spares (for guests) or I'll use them to clean with - and they suck.

Yeah, that's what we do too. Guests can use the soft brushes, except for the ones that I get.
I've been going to the same dentist since I got teeth, so every time they still insist on showing me how to brush my teeth and ruin the new toothbrush (which I always tell them is not what I'll be using anyhow). Then I can only use it for cleaning. But the soft ones do work okay on cleaning gunk out of guinea pig waterbottles.

I used to have an electric one (well, still do, but they stopped making heads for it). Mine was probably medium strength or so. It was a SenseSonic or something. I liked it okay, but then I got braces and it started taking off brackets (oops). After 4 years of braces, I couldn't use the brush because there were no longer heads made for it.
I'm not sure if I should get an electric toothbrush now because part of my front teeth are fake. I don't want it to be too powerful. :) Although, I must admit I used to love my electric brush! The one I have now is definitely stiffer though. At first, it felt like it must have been one of those steel bristle brushes!

We had electric ones a few years back. We didn't care for them at all. So I switched us back to the regular kind. It could have been the brand or the way it was made back then. But I feel they're too expensive to keep trying new ones out. Our dentist has no complaints so we're good :)

Mine told me that too. I don't buy it though. Because when I used a soft brush, my gums were so infected and always bleeding. They started receding. I started to stimulate them more with a medium toothbrush, and they got a lot better. It seems to make them tougher.

I prefer soft bristle because it would surely irritate my gingiva if I used something that is hard into it. As those underlying tissues are sensitive at the same time if we used hard toothbrush we are prone into toothbrush abrasion.

My teeth bleed a lot at first when I switched to the hard brush, because they were so infected. Now, my gums are so much healthier.
I guess I don't care as much about tooth brush abrasion though. My teeth are pretty scratched up from an encounter with a garage door and some cement. I don't think a few scratches from a hard toothbrush would be noticed. Although, I doubt it's adding any scratches. It isn't steel wool or something. ;)

if i get the hard toothbruches, they'll start to hurt my gums and then i'll start to bleed, which i don't when i use the soft tootbrushes. so i use soft toothbrushes. they shoud be super soft! i'll probably buy them all the time! plus, if it's so hard to find hard toothbrushes at the store, why not order online? that maybe stupied, but if you like hard brushes THAT much, just go on amazon.

I haven't seen them online before either actually. I didn't know that they were made anymore until I found this one. I'll have to check Amazon too.
The hard ones make my gums bleed at first, but I figure if my gums aren't being aggitated at first, then my teeth probably aren't getting clean. I used soft toothbrushes for years and have over 10 cavities. I'm hoping the hard one will be a huge improvement since my teeth feel 10 times cleaner with it.

Wow. The kind I got is cheaper on Amazon. The one in the store was $5. $2.50 on Amazon. But with shipping, I guess I'd need to buy a few for that to be a deal.

I don't like the soft tooth brushes at all. They don't clean my teeth! I seek out the medium ones. I can still find them - maybe not in my favorite brand - but I'm adaptable.

Well I buy the soft toothbrushes. The problem with hard brushes is it can damage the enamel on the teeth, not the gums but the covering that goes over the teeth. That's where the problem comes in with them. So you might want to be careful using the hard one, especially if you brush several times a day.

I don't brush several times a day, perhaps that's why the soft ones aren't for me. I simply don't have that much time to spend on my teeth (nor do I want to when I do). I brush my teeth once a day generally, twice at the most unless I had onions or something, then more.
The enamel on many of my teeth is already fake either from accidents or just from having the tooth filled in large part. All of my top front teeth are badly scratched up from an accident. So I really couldn't care nice about them looking nice anymore, I just don't want to have to pay for fillings.
