Some other things to consider are:
How big is my home? If you live in an apartment or condo, chances are a big dog wouldn't fit in well since it wouldn't have enough room to play.
What are my hobbies? Look at the different breed types and find a dog that will fit into your lifestyle. For example, my family and I are into horses and ranching so we have an Australian Shepherd. Those dogs are bred for herding and working with cattle.
Good luck with your search!!

well thanks! you've got some good points there. I'll consider your info. maybe i can narrow it down to a medium size breed because my house is not that big. and my hobbies is riding motorcycles and bikes. thanks!

Labrador retrievers are good dogs, but if you get a young one or pup, he will probably dig holes in your yard so you will have to teach him not to do that. A cocker spaniel of cocapoo would be good, or even a mixed breed. Most local animal shelters have lot of good dogs including labs you can adopt for a low nominal fee, that way you can get a dog without spending alot of money at a breeder and you are also saving a dogs life. They can also tell you what would be the best dog for you and your lifestyle.

As others have said, Labradors are enormously popular dogs for their beauty, sweet natures, and loving loyalty. But they are not alone in charm; Jack Russell terriers are great little dogs; such fun. Greyhounds are also lovely dogs; and beagles; there are so many. Good luck!
