Do you ever ponder why the universe was created in the first place?

Yes, at times. But I eventually just started pondering on how to make the world a better place instead of thinking how the universe or existence for that matter was created. Why? Simply put, it's just beyond man's comprehension to ponder on something so vast. All we have are theories and the only way we'll know why and how everything was created is if we become God ourselves and create a universe or an existence in our image. I know it's great to think about the possibilities of "life out there" and warp speed travel but we aren't just ready to know that yet. All we have for now our smart guesses for now. Everything will be revealed to us in time. God has a habit of doing that. :)

lovely comment, btw! you are right, all things will be revealed in time. Everyone has their fascinations in some subject, some are their families, their careers, or topics of interests, mine just happens to be quantum physics! just saying it gives me a rush! but anyways, the cool thing about quantum Physics, is this is where GOD comes back into science because there are things like you said that are just unexplainable! this is where you get into folding time, and atoms and stuff.

Think about Big Bang (accepted theory as of now) and just truy to imagine that tiny bit of raw "material" and extreme energy. Now try to imagine where it stands, what's around . . . that'S it, I have another headache.

Yes I've asked myself several times specially when I was young. The milky way galaxy where our planet belong is immense and incomprehensible but to think that milky way is just one galaxy in billions of galaxies out there is awesome. Trying to put eternity and infinity in our small little brain. It makes man more insignicant like what one of the ancient asked What is man that thou art mindful of him? This thought made me believe that there must be a Supreme Being behind this grand design in the universe. Another man of the ancient looked up in the heavens and after watching the stars and everything said in his heart, there is no God.

I found this verse on InTouch.org website. Psalm 42:1 God designed us to that we would thirst for Him as we thirst for water and to seek Him as we seek relief from a parched throat. God created us to have fellowship with Him. I love being able to talk to God and knowing that He listens and He also speaks to me thru His Word...the Bible. He speaks to my heart.
