Are first impressions right?

What did you think of your spouse or significant other the first moment you met him/her? I thought my wife was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. I figured there was no way I had a shot with her. Glad I was wrong about that.

There's a saying that 'First impressions lasts'.. it is important to make an initial impact on someone.. however, as I've learned, they are almost always not accurate.. When you make a big impression on someone, expectations are higher on you and vice versa.. This is why we are surprised when we learned we are wrong about someone who made a small impression us us (when they impress us), and get dissappointed by someone who made a big impression on us (when they fail to meet our expectations).

That's an excellent point. I guess even a postive first impression can work both ways!

Good question though I must admit, when I met my current bf he really didn't leave much of an impression. I couldn't remember him at all the next day when I saw him again; probably because I was drunk anyway. The second time I saw him the first thought that came to mind was "oh! HIM!!" and the second thought was "what a dork!" lol

It was love at first sight for both of us, yet we were so young and I was too scared to speak to him and he to me as well. So the realtionship did not progress very quickly. Finally he asked me to the Christmas Dinner/Dance at the high school. We just celebrated our 26 wedding Anniversary.

i dont believe in the saying first impressions are always right cause more often than not they are wrong. because you can't really tell the attitude of the person uless you get the chance to get to know him better.

I had a crush on my husband from day one. He worked where I worked, and I pined away for him for four years before we started dating. But it was worth the wait!

first impressions lasts because it is unforgettable and memory will bring you back to the first impression. but then if you will get to know the person better, you will see the other side of that person. sometimes you maybe right, sometimes it is the other way around.

I think it's amazing hw much stock we place in first impressions, even thoughthey are only based on just a few moments of interaction.

My husband and I met on a dating website called Match.com. We emailed for 4 weeks before we met. The night we met it was love at first sight. And we were married less than a year later. I just knew when I met him he was the one for me.

it's funny how our opinions change -- I know a lot of people who couldn't stand the person they fell in love with at first
