that it is only taken from the first page. a huge majority of the time people dont care to look what peoples responses were on say page 5 or 9 or whatever. people took time to respond i think that at least you should give everyone a fair chance.
your say?

I agree that it is hard to pick out of so mant and such good responses. It is some times hard to get through all the responses when you find a good topic that many respond to. I think it is well worth it though, reading and responding to all of them.

To expand on Jemina's point, we have to remember that many discussions keep receiving responses months after they were initially opened. I've had discussions that got, say, 3 responses in the first *week* and then, when someone responded (thus bumping the discussion to the top of the list) it would create a domino effect that resulted in many additional responses.
I agree that if someone is, for example, posting "best answers" the day they open a discussion, or picking out friends (even if their answers are not the best), or not bothering to read all their responses, that more effort should be put into the choice. However, if one has waited an appropriate length of time (1-2 weeks) then we can't fault that person for not including the responses that came after the 'best answer' choice.

That's right.
I made that embarrassing mistake when I first joined myLot. Thinking that no one else would response to the discussion after 2-3 days, I marked the best response right away. But days later I regret doing that because more people answered my post and even gave so much better responses. Now I became wiser and therefore wait until I get more responses even if it takes a month or two or more.
