Does the sight puts a smile on your face and makes you say "How sweet". In the alarming increase of divorces worldwide couples whose marriages last a lifetime are endangered species.
I am not implying second time or third time marriages are less good, it maybe just as sweet.
Do you wish all marriages will be till death do us part?

I do love to see an older couple together! I personally know a couple married for 44 years! Can you just imagine what they have seen together? The changes in the world they have seen! My grandparents were married 65 years! They were sooo close. It was incredidbly sweet to see them together! They called each other... HUN.

The only reason couples in thier sixties hold hands is to try and keep thier balance.

This definately puts a smile on my face when I see it. I also add a little "ahhhhh" in there. I remember seeing a couple stop walking while holding hands and just kissed each other I almost started applauding it was one of the most beautiful things I remember and I hope to be there some day with my hubby.

When I see any couple holding hands I think how nice it is that two people can love each other enough be able to show it in public. I commend couples who maintain their loyalty and commitment to one another.

i think it's really sweet and it's a rare sight because usually romance and sweetness wears down as years add up. i guess it's due to familiarity. instead of using their closeness and familiarity to make things work, this tends to just suffocate each other to the point of losing interest. plus all the issues about infidelity and stuff. so when i see couples in their 60s holding hands, it's kind of a ray of hope that if people just tried their darnest to make things work, it's bound to.

I absolutely LOVE when I see this. Everytime I see it, I pray to God that my husband and I will be able to be together for that long.
I hate that, now, in this day and age, divorce isn't a big deal. Marriage is sacred and I really wish people would take it seriously. I do understand that some have no choice, but I also know there are couples out there that think, 'hey, it's no big deal! We'll just divorce and this whole thing will be over with' instead of working through it and doing everything you can do avoid it.

totally.=) its cute. everytime i notice them eating together in a restaurant, i put a smile on my face and would think that 'am i gonna experience this when we grow old?' and sometimes i see couples at that age having dinner together in the middle of teenagers crowd. how sweet is that? i also like watching old couples roaming around the mall with their grandchildren.

All Marriages should be forever..the sad thing is that most don't work out! I want to be in a relationship that when I'm 60 there's still that spark that I have now with my bf. I saw an old couple pull up to the parking lot by baskin robbins. The old man could barely walk. He came out with Ice cream for the older woman in the car. My sister and I just sat there and watched how cute they were and how it would be when we turned that age. I wish my relationship will be like that when I get old. I'm glad to see those old couples that have been married for years and years.

divorce/separation is everywhere. they may have valid reasons for doing so, still, one would wish that they don't lose any of their parent because separation. that's why seeing a couple, in their twilight years and still holding hands...wow...it makes me teary eyed with happiness. And wish that every couple would come to realize that love and understanding is a major factor in maintaining a good, healthy and lasting relationship.

It makes me wonder how they still be together at that age and still remain sweet to each other. Makes me hope to find someone i can hold hands when i reach that age... Well i hope that all marriage will keep their vows but i also know that no one is perfect and the only thing that's permanent is change. Couples should try their best to make their relationship work.

It would be nice if all marriages lasted forever but, its so easy to get a divorce now rather than try to work on the marriage. But yeah it makes me smile when i see the wiser older person holding hands. I think its wonderful that they still have affection for one another.

Oh yes, I think it's very sweet! But then my pessimistic side thinks, "who says they didn't just meet last month?" :) My grandparents were married for 55 years, and my parents are still happy after 35, so I have faith in lasting love, even if a lot of my friends are going through divorces right now.

Oh yes. and I intend to belong to one of those couples too!
This reminds me of a joke of an old couple in Mcdonalds. They ate all in half. and the woman waits for the man to finish eating. When asked by one who noticed why is this so, the woman replied "Oh, im waiting for the teeth".. LOL

I always wish that what couples promise during their marriage vows shall live with it forever no matter what it takes.Marriage is a sacred vow, that they must respect it.
Nowadays we seldom see those couples who are holding hands. Dont you know that there is a healing magic of holding hands?Researchers have found out that when women are frightened, their husbands' touch significantly reduces the fear. To measure this, the scientists placed the women in an MRI scanning machine and periodically administered mild shocks. The scans showed that as the women anticipated pain, certain regions of the brain became very active. But when they held their husbands' hands, that brain activity plunged. WHile a stranger's touch also helped,it wasnt as calming as a spouse's, the researchers report.

Since I have been divorced twice, I think you can't force a relationship to work. It is wonderful when 2 people can stay together forever. And I think it would be possible for more people to be happy for longer with better communication and appreciation for the other. Too much becomes taken for granted and at times things seem better on the other side of the fence. If I find the right person for me, I would get married again. I am not to far from 60, so if I have the chance, I would hold my partners hand.

I think it is lovely that in this day and age elderly couples can still be so in love that they bother to hold hands. What a lovely way of showing the younger generation that if you truly love each other you can get through all the ups and downs of life. And still come out the other side wanting to hold the hand of the person that walked through everything with you, It just goes to show that love really can conquer all.
