as a working mother, is it really possible to balance a family and a career?

more and more mothers are joining the workforce, leaving their children in day care or with nannies or grandparents while they earn a paycheck. do you think children become neglected? or is it really possible for working mothers to have a successful career without sacrificing their time with their children? or one has to give in to the other?
