I was sattisfied of my old laptop perfformances - a Fujitsu Amilo A 1630 - AMD 64, ATI 9700, 512 DDR, 40 GB. This machine was running as server for almost 3 years. 3 days ago I decided to change it and I bought Toshiba Euquium A 100 which had a death pixel when I opened first time - so - I send it back to shop and got for 200 euros more a Satellite A100. The first Toshiba was really quiet (Fujitsu-Siemens had a non-stop working cooler which was stressing me) and that was the reason to try other Toshiba. Now, this Satellite is not as quiet as Euquium but it is working well night-time and is not disturbing me (2Core T5020, 1024MB DDR2,100GB,Gforce+256) - from time to time the cooler is starting.

First of all - I have a desktop, P4, 1024 DDR, 100 GB, Video on board. I am planning in the near future to buy a laptop but is to expensive and is getting old so fast. Moreover, You can not chang a think to it.. got it - sell it as is but only for a small part of its price. So, there is not a bussines unsing a laptop. The only one should be the noise, as you sais. Is it true nowdays are existing noise-free desktops? I´m not sure, but I think they are.

Wel, for me, as you got the idea, the noise is more important instead of performaces. I was so happy when I got the first Toshiba - well, first I checked in shop which laptop is really silent :P - but, it looks that I had no luck with the first one. Even this Satellite gave me a "blue screen" once and I am prepared for anything from now on.
