I wonder if you have ever experienced your queuing up for something - maybe to get movie tickets, buying food etc.. and the queue is long. All of a sudden, someone from nowhere just cuts right in front of you. What would your reaction be - just let it be or tell the person off?

i'll very politely inform the person that there is a line and that people have been here before him. i'll ask him to please be considerate to those who came before him and go to the end of the line. in any case, i will not allow that person to cut the line. if her persists, i'll report him to the manager or to whomever is in charge at that establishment. these people need to be taught a lesson.

You sound like a very sensible person. I will try to follow your advice, but in some cases reporting the matter is useless unless you can get that person to go with you to the authorities, otherwise once they know your intention I don't think they will wait around to be reprimanded.

I think I will give the person a piece of my mind...after all, I've already been queueing for such a long time. The person has no right to suddenly 'hop' infront of me!

It depends on my mood - if I am feeling sunshiny, I probably would just let it be, but if I already am seething about something else....I would have to count to a hundred thousand to keep myself from lashing out. May not have the patience to count that long...

Depends on my mood really, if I am in a hurry and really fed up I would politely point out the end of the queue.

I politely tell him to follow the que. If he doesnot listen, I gather the support of couple of them and shout at that fellow and inform the matter to the man-in-charge to ensure he is shunted to the end.

This just happened to me the other day while in line to get tickets to the movie "Night at the Museum" again with a friend. An older lady cut in front of me all of a sudden. I was talking to my friend so I did notice til shortly after and then I saw her. She asked me if it was okay to cut in front of me because she just wanted to ask the ticket person a question about something. I said sure since I thought she was being honest and sincere but she went up there and purchased movie tickets. It upsets me when people lie like that.

Well it has happened to me so many times and I don't shout at the Person, I just make it known that I am not happy. A few years ago someone pushed in front of me and I was having a bad Day, this person was about to put the Stuff on the Band and I went in front of them shoved their Stuff away and put mine in front of theirs. They where to shocked to say anything and I just said, well you will agree I was here before you.

Oh yes someone before did try to jump the queue in front of me when I went to the movies, and on this particular occasion I told them to go back in line as I was here way before they were and to be fair everybody has to be in the queue and who are they to try and push in front of everybody else.

I would probably not say anything at all, just fume about it to myself in my head and complain to all my friends afterwards, lol. I tend to not really stick up for myself. Now, if it was my children they cut in front of, then I would tell them they just butted in line and had to go to the back of the line like everyone else. For some reason, when it comes to my kids, I have no problem speaking up, I just can't seem to do it for myself.

You sound like me, lol. I seldom will speak up unless pushed to the limit. Otherwise, I will probably bear with it in silence and then blare it all out to my friends or family afterwards.

I would tell the person directly. That is the best thing to do. Such people don't deserve to be spoken to in a gentle and polite manner. Breaking a Q is a quite common sight here in Delhi, people are rowdy and mannerless.
