yesterday i found out that the daughter in law of a lady i work with is going to abort her child and she is already 23 weeks the abortion will take place next week.
i was so shocked by this as i thought that an abortion after 12 weeks was not allowed the baby is perfectly healthy and growing well the young girl already has one son and as she does not know who the father of this baby is she went to social services and they are helping her to abort.
for those of you who know me you will know that this is a very hard subject for me as i had to make a terrible decision last year and i was made to give birth to my beautiful daughter at 20 weeks she sadly passed.
i really dont think this young girl understands that she has to give birth to this baby and that if it is still breathing they will not intervine and she will have to carry that with her for the rest of her life i am angry at the girl but then at the same time i feel very sorry for her.
i just cant understand why anyone would do this out of choice and not for a medical reason.

You can abort a child as long as it is no more than 24 weeks along. If she waits one week to get the abortion, it may not be legal anymore. Hopefully she passes the cut off. Although, even if she does, the clinic may still perform the abortion anyways. Which is sad.
I will admit, when I got pregant with my daughter, I had considered abortion. I thank God every day that I decided not to. My daughter is the most precious little person in the world. And I guarantee if I ever get pregant again by accident, I have not doubt in my mind that I will for sure keep my baby.
I don't blame her for considering it, because I considered it once. But I am shocked that she would have an abortion after already having a child. That motherly feeling must've gone straight out the door.

this girl felt that she was justified because she had no idea who the father was and said that really she was saving alot of heartache for others.
it makes me sick that people can do this, alot of people would have been very gratefull for the chance to have a new born baby given to them so really she could have made someones life complete.
she has already expressed to her mother in law that she wants to give up the one son she has as she feels he has taken her life away.
this i feel is a perfect example as to why all girls should be made to use proper contraceptives from the day they become sexually active.

First, I am very sorry about the loss of your daughter, I can't even imagine how diffacult that would be. And as far as the girl having an abortion at 23 weeks, it is absurd and sad and disgusting. I thought that it was illegal to have abortions that late in the pregnancy! There was recently a woman on the news who gave birth to her baby at 21 weeks and it survived! So at 23 weeks that baby should have a right to life. That story really makes me sad and mad.

I don't understand why someone would want to abort a perfectly healthy baby at 23 weeks. Give it up for adoption at least. Even if the mother doesn't want the baby that doesn't mean someone else won't want the baby.
I lost my baby due to miscarriage early in my pregnancy and I don't understand why someone would want to give up their child.
I pity this girl because she feels this is her only option.

Are you sure that there isn't more to the story? Are you in the US? I'm not aware of any state that allows terminations that late in a pregnancy, but of course I could be mistaken. I was under the impression Kansas was among the latest & their cut off is 20 weeks I believe.
I am very much pro-choice, but even I find this troublesome. She is past a reasonable point of viability and there doesn't seem to be any reason she couldn't have done it sooner.
