Well to cut a long story short i use both Windows and Linux using a dual boot option and get the benefit of using either OS as per my mood.
Also, using Rdesktop i access my Windows Pc using a Linux Desktop.
Linux is better than windows's because you do not have to worry about malware, trojan horse etc.. Also the inbuilt firewall and encrypted security options in Linux make it superior to Windows.
Also, Linux has a better Gui than Windows (who have just now come with a copycat GUI "aero", a feature which has been present for years on Macintosh, and Open Suse Linux OS).

i use both.linux is the best once u r get used to it.its very
secure and no problem of virus and trogens .every software and every thing is free in linux . u need not pay r register any software .if you have internet u can download and use it .getting used to it is little bot difficult but once u start using it and know it you will definitely love it.all aero space look and and 3d desktops which are new features in windows are already present years before.so try linux and use
windows until u get used to it

if u r talking abt user friendly then i would say...
WINDOWS...
if u r talking abt networking purpose then u should go for SUSE...
if u r talking abt a free user friendly os that get updated regularly and free of cost i would say
UBUNTU...
