I boicott several things because of things they do that i do not agree with them.
I boicott a special brand of milkdeliver because they tried to push out a smaller one denying them to have their goods in the stores. I refuse drinking their milk and i steer away all the products with their brand on it the best i can.
When i read in the newspapers an orangejuice company use slaves to pick the oranges, i do not buy that brand either. These are just examples.
Do you think it helps the community or the world to do this boicott? Does it make you feel better about yourself?

Your comment about the orangejuice company is very thought provoking. I have worried about this question. When people dont seem to get a fair pay for the work they do. But then it seems in some countries the small amount of money is enough to make a living. If the business doesnt operate there is nothing to replace their income. It shocks me that the little bit made on Mylot can be an advantage for some.

I know that a big boicott wouldnt help out the slaves as they then maybe got nothing. But if everybody would boicott anything related to slaves, dont you think the companies would have to reconcider what they are doing?
It sickens me that we still have slaves - in the year 2007.
Thank you for replying.

Its a very complex issue. I heard some people think that governments should set some sort of minimum wage for their work force.Others feel that commerce should be held accountable for action. Huge profits are made its sad that a percentage cant be ploughed back to those that put the time and labour in.

I stopped drinking coca cola because of the treatment to the unions in Columbia

Also nestle for their involvement in the cocoa trade in the Ivory Coast http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=12754
The power of the consumer is the greatest weapon on earth.
If we decided to stop buying a product for just a few days the companies would loose millions.
We need to stand together and fight against these evil corporate tyrannts. And it is so easy, just stop buying their products. Absolutely no violence involved and we can do it as silently as we wish.
The effects will still be the same!!
