Not for the glory-hunter

We see it in sport all the time. Liverpool win the UEFA Cup and there’s million more Liverpool supporters, Italians win the World Cup and so again the same happens. This discussion doesn’t relate just to football (soccer). Are you a glory-hunter? Or have you stuck with a team through hell? Have you been with a team for years and then they’ve won something and had ‘glory-hunters’ join and claim you to be one?

I love that. Liverpool is the best. Shouldn't it be Liverpool ARE the best. Stop with this tomfoolery. We know who the real supporter is. Those who pledge money and time into the club. Not the simpleton that sits at home and occasionally watches them play if they get a game on sky on a sunday. Or if you haven't got sky the Carling Cup on ITV. Of course if you saw Liverpool beat Milan on penalties last year (on the telly) you are a real supporter. So were the other 20 million british that watched

I have a bit of a problem with football. I personally don't like it but, for the sake of my family (partner and 2 boys) I try to root for their teams. Unfortunately, my 6 year old supports Aston Villa and my partner and youngest son support Wolverhampton Wanderers! I once decided, when I was about 14 or 15, that I was going to support whichever team won in a certain match. It happened to be Liverpool v Man Utd and Man Utd won so for a brief spell I suppose you could say I was a glory supporter but I enjoyed it because all of my friends supported Liverpool!

Support the team of which family member yells the loudest; it'll save the ear-ache! ;)

Bafana Bafana - Bafana Bafana - South Africa's soccer team.
I am from South Africa and dont actually support soccer. But our country's team is called Bafana Bafana. Can't say that they are up to international standards yet but maybe they will get there someday.
