Hope you all don't mind me asking here...
I noticed some usb cables have 2 connectors on one end of the cable. Does anyone know what is the purpose of the second connector? Some say it is for the power in case the usb device need extra power. Some say it is used to speed up the data transfer rate.
Does anyone here know the actual purpose of the 2nd connector?

USB cable with two connectors on one end is used for 2"5 external HDD because these HDD needs more power than a USB simple connection can provide. Speed transfer rate isn't affected by the second connector I think.
