What can I do about this cat?

My neighbor's cat, (at least I think it is my neighbor's cat),keeps coming into my basement, eating my kittens' food, and attacking my female cat. We have a small "doggie" door in our basement for our cats to go outside to play and use the bathroom. This demon cat keeps coming in and attacking them. This morning I looked outside in my driveway and that cat was on top of my girl cat and it was biting her. Yesterday she came in and it had injured her paw and now it is swollen and she can barely walk on it. What should I do about this evil cat? I can't block up the little door because then my cats wouldn't be able to get out.

Catch the cat. Then enact Plan A. Plan A: The first time, take it to your neighbors and make them aware of the problem. Hopefully it can be handled civilly, if not, then proceed to Plan B. Plan B: Call animal services. They'll come and get the cat, problem solved. IF your neighbors pay the fee to free their cat and bring it home, knowing you'll call animal services will give them added incentive to keep it indoors. If not, catch it again and call animal services again. Your neighbors will get sick of having to pay an arm and a leg to bail out their animal. Also, depending on where you are, animal services can lay charges or fine the owners for improper care of their animal.

If it is our neighbor's cat, he probaby doesn't take very good care of it in the first place. That is why it comes to our house for food. I think animal control would be the best way to go. Thanks for the advice.

I guess because of were we live I don't believe in cats going outside, up here they are just food for predators. But if I were you I would do like the first person said only I would skip plan A because if the neighbors cared what their cat was doing it wouldn't be doing it in the firs place. I know up here you can call animal control and they will come put out the trap and everything. It really sounds to me like this is perhaps a wild cat and not really owned by the neighbors, he just seems way to aggreasive to be a pet.

Well, I am not sure if the cat is our neighbor's or not. My husband thinks it might be. He is an old man that lives in a junky house, so if it is his cat, then he probably doesn't take very good care of it anyway. But, thanks for the advice. I will try that.

Just to clarify ... I didn't mention taking it to the neighbors because I thought the neighbors would take better care of their cat, likely they won't. The reason for going with that plan initially was only to try to maintain peace with your neighbors. I'm not sure where you live, or how important it is to have civility in your neighborhood, but often, tension or bad feelings between neighbors can lead to ordeals you'd rather not deal with. If you could care less if your neighbors hate you or not, then skip plan A and go straight to animal services. Just figured the prior warning would be a good way to go, so you don't end up with more problems down the line. Nasty neighbors can make your life a living hell.

Catch it, and give the cat a little "bath". That would traumatize the demon cat and atleast that cat wouldn' dare enntering your basement.
