Do you take naps?

I've found that sometimes taking a short nap in the afternoon revives me enough to make it well into the night with enough energy to pull me through! Okay, maybe I'm just getting old! lol
How many take quick "power naps" to revive? Do you take them regularly or just when you can sneak one in?

Because I do a lot of exercise i.e. 5km runs every day, as well as rowing, cross trainer and pumping iron my body needs extra sleep to recover and so I can be fit and ready for my next training session the next day. I am always having a snooze, but it's not easy sometimes when my housemate is around. I also find I need at least 9 hours sleep each night any less and I feel totally drained and sluggish which is not good. I do like my sleep as well as my regular naps, its my body's way of recouperating and re-energizing.

Yeah, I've pretty much learned to listen to my body. When I'm really whooped I take a short nap. I wish my big ol' butt was out running! LOL

I do take naps but I think my naps are too long and it prevents me from sleeping well at night. I heard that naps should not be more than a half hour to an hour at most. I take quick naps on the weekends when I am not working. I do not do naps during the working week since I have so much stuff to get done at home as well as my bowling league. Naps do me a lot of good when I am able to take them.

I can honestly say if I sleep much over an hour it messes me up too. I think they're correct when they say an hour power nap is all you need, sometimes less.

Occasionally I will take a nap in the afternoon. I get up at 4am to get hubby off to work at 5. Sometimes I will go back to bed for a couple hours, but if I stay up and work (I am self-employed) then I usually try to get an afternoon nap, when Bonanza comes on! I don't usually fall asleep though, I might just doze a little while I watch TV. I never took naps much when I was younger but I think my age is catching up with me!

I used to stay up til Martha Stewart at 10am, watch her and then take my nap! LOL Now that I finally got cable, I tend to take my nap a little earlier or later, depending on what's on the Food Network.

I think that is all I really take. I go to bed around 3 in the morning (or later) and I get up at 7. Then I usually take a nap sometime in the afternoon for a couple of hours. I don't always get to, like today it doesn't look like I will but I do try. I love my naps, I always did. Even as a kid I wanted to take naps. Drove my mother nuts :)

I've always been a night owl and I do recall my teen years really needing a lot of sleep. I don't think people realize how much teens do need sleep. I believe its their biggest growth spurt and between eating and sleeping I think they relive their baby days! Seriously! I've only recently been able to truly take naps but that's because I now work at home at my own time schedule! I love it!

I never used to take naps but now I will when I can. I'm pregnant and I seem to always be exhausted! The first trimester was the worst, I'd get home from work and fall asleep...and I'd fall asleep in the bathroom at work! I'm glad thats over, but I'm still really tired a lot, especially in the evenings.

I do recall 1st and last trimesters being constantly tired. Rest up... you're building a little miracle and those things take time, patience and lots of strength! LOL

I'm a big fan of the nap. I work shift work, so, when I'm switching from days to nights, or vice versa, I find I'm so tired some days. I lie down for an hour (or 2), and I feel revived, and ready to go for the rest of the day.

I admire people who can "power nap", lol! For some reason, I've always been the type of person who takes awhile to relax and fall asleep. I really don't relax easily. (It would probably be very hard to hypnotize me, lol!) Therefore, I've never really bothered to try to nap, because I know that I don't feel sleepy enough in the day to do it. In fact, I have trouble sleeping sometimes even if I can see a little bit of light coming in through the curtains on my bedroom window. As soon as my body thinks that it is daylight, it doesn't want to sleep as much, lol! But I do think that, as I become older, I will be able to nap. My parents seem to be able to sleep anytime, anywhere, with the TV blaring, sitting up in a chair, anything. I figure that if they can do it, one day I'll be able to, too! *Laugh*

LMAO... I think it's old age that allows you to sleep through anything. Can't hear... body's tired... sleep through a hurricane! lol

I take my naps every day after lunch to coincide with my 21 month old son's naptime. I need my 'powernap' because I tend to sleep after 12 midnight and I wake up the next morning at 7.30am :) Not enough sleep because my son still wakes up in the night.

I used to take naps regularly....now I dont have any time for them. I do, however, love taking naps. There is something so refreshing about a mid-afternoon nap. Sometimes when I dont really have anything planned for the day, the only thing I look forward to is making time to take a nap. hahahaha

There's nothing better than a nap to make you feel better. I know that since I've had some health issues from the cancer I've found I simply NEED the rest. I think it's great to be able to actually listen to my body and do what's best for it... which is sleep to get better!

I've never been able to sleep during the day. I go to bed late, then when I hit the pillow, that's it until morning.
I would have trouble getting to sleep, but if I managed to drop off in the afternoon I would be out until like 3am, then be raring to go and not be able to sleep anymore.

I love to have a nap around 3 in the afternoon. I usually lie on the sofa and switch on the tv and before long, I am snoozing. I don't think I go into a deep sleep, as I can still hear the tv and if something interesting comes on I will quickly sit up and watch it. Still, it is very restful.

Oh... can't sleep at 3pm here! Rachael Ray is on! LOL
I tend to not really have a set time.. sometimes I sneak back into bed after the kids are gone and sleep then, not needing an afternoon nap but generally I hit my head on a pillow about 2ish and am up by 3 when they get home. Nobody even knows the better! LOL

I think my sleeping pattern is completely screwed up. I'm a student, so I sleep whenever I can! And on Friday or Saturday nights, it's so loud on campus that it's much easier to sleep during the day.
I took a refreshing break to Amsterdam last weekend, and we walked all day long for two days, sleeping at 4 in a small car. When I came back on Monday morning, I fell asleep at noon and didn't get up until 9PM, only to eat a little bit and do some work before getting a good night's sleep to tackle my classes the following day!
Naps are incredibly refreshing, and I do like to have one now and then :)
