well..this incident just happened behind my house a few months ago...there was a new born baby in this house and they had a pet dog..i suppose it was a pom..this dog attacked the little baby just like that, and they had to struggle to save the child from the dog...well..i've had a couple of dogs..both were poms and they never exhibited such monstrous behaviour. Its also known that those dogs were well looked after with proper medication..I dono how a pet dog can behave like that!..My mom's been against dogs ever since she heard about it..But i love dogs and i sincerely feel that pet dogs are not dangerous!!..what do u people think??..Also do u have any clue as to why the dog behaved so??

If it was their first child maybe they started ignoring the dog and only paying attention to the child. If a dog is always used to attention and then suddenly he is ignored completely because of the baby it might upset him. Thats not always the case but it might happen.
I read somewhere that a week before the baby comes you should start ignoring the dog. Continue his excercise and reward him for good behaviour but otherwise ignore him. That way he wont associate the baby with the lack of attention when you finally bring the baby home.
And most important no matter how long you have had the dog, dont leave him alone with the baby.
Ive had pets too but we never had any more siblings after that so we were never in a situation like that. Our dogs were absolute darlings but it doesnt hurt to be cautious.
