Do you think Mylot cosider posting joke and recipe as plagarism? When yesterday I saw my earning reduced (my rating was same though) I was little wonder. I know I don't reply to junk. Mostly I reply to my friend's post. As per my knowledge no one of my friend's discussion was deleted. But sometime I respond to some good joke and recipe post. Do you think as one do write the same thing from somewhere as joke or recipe Mylot consider it as pelgarism?

If you take it from you memory I would say you are probably okay but if you copy and paste it from another site without permission then yes you are stepping into dangerous territory.

I know direct copy paste is dangerous for any thing. But I am just wonder if you try to write a joke or recipe as your own, the basic thing is same. Thanks for your response.

Plagarism as I understand it, is the act of using other person’s work without acknowledging the original creator. So I would have thought if you give adequate acknowledgement of the original source it would be ok to post such things as Jokes and recipes. But the thing with Jokes and recipes is that the same exact joke or exact recipe can be found on a number of sites online and even in books, plus who is to say that the joke or recipe was told to you off line? So I would carry on posting and if you are worried include the link to where you found the joke or recipe.

I could think of at least 10 better reasons to lower earnings. I like it when we share a couple of recepies. Maybe we'd better start referencing the cook book that we got it from. I don't read very many jokes so I have not noticed if my earnings ever went down from that.

Good question, and I honestly don't know. I guess if it is totally your own recipe, or joke, as opposed to just copying it out of a book, or from another poster, then it should be OK, but how they would tell that!? I'm afraid I don't know. Maybe write to the Admins here. and ask them?

I really don't know the rules. I'd love to know though. I love reading recipes personally. Jokes are always fun too! Hope that you don't get reduced anymore. That really isn't nice at all.

I think it might not consider a plagiarism if you post/responses with recipes or jokes by mylot discussions guidelines just that am sure it wouldn't help on yor reputations or earnings as those jokes or recipes were mainly for sharing and not for discussions and thus it lost the meaning of "Discussions". Anyway its just my own views onto this topic concern and might not right.

I don't know and never really thought about that before. I haven't returned to post like this to see if they are still there either. Now that you mentioned it, I wonder.

i do not think so because you are just sharing it to friends and you are not using it to sell the joke or the recipe.the best way to do that is qoute the piece.so, it would seem that your anot claiming it.

I have been posting recipes from weight watchers. I try to keep s aweight loss bddies thread doing. But I also put in the copy right information and credit weight watchers with the recipe unless it is one that I got through word of mouth or is one where I don't have the source or made up myself. I have not lost any money and infact the day that people said they lost moeny I made almost $5. afteer the aadjustment. Maybe I got extra for following the rules. And I get many jokes...by mouth , hardcopy etc..I have never seen copy right information on them. So I don't post any.

i do not know what to tell you, do you response to the same amount of post as you do every day? maybe they think joke and recipe worth less than real idea and information, because other information may help people but joke just to entertain people? i cant tell you for sure, i am sorry

I think as long as you had cited where you got the information it cannot be classified as plagiarism. Sharing good information is helpful to other people. However, we should be careful when this information is not our own original idea. It is just fair that you should tell us where you gained the idea.

Well I suppose someone somewhere would have written the joke unless it was one you had written yourself .. quite frankly I find jokes almost impossible to nake a reply to .. I mean what do you say other than hohoho that made me laugh .. On the other hand I can see easily make replies to recipes, and I think quite a number of the recipes posted are family ones or authors own adaptations of classic recipes ....

When I post a recipe, I incorporate it into a discussion. As far as I know, none has been deleted. I never just copy and paste a recipe from anywhere but my own files. I try to add some interesting info with the recipe. I tweek all my recipes to make them my own so it is not someone elses work.

I guess I better read the rules as I had no idea that I shouldn't post recipes on here .I just thought it would be helpful and I have no idea where I got them from
