I miss it very much. I loved that show. I'd watch the SciFi channel just to see that. I don't have cable, now, but I wonder if you can rent DVD's of that show anywhere? I'll have to check that out. Anyway, I thought it was very entertaining and insightful. I do think we need MST3K. We need a show that critiques all types of films...really bad films....not just science fiction.

I have them on DVD from home recordings, since only 25 eps are on Rhino DVD.

Have you heard of RiffTrax? It is a website created by Mike Nelson and one of the other guys. Crowe, I think. For really cheap, you can download Rifftrax to a variety of movies and once you sinc up the audio to the movie, it is like MST3K jokes without the shadows and science stuff. Just their jokes to movies like Independence Day and Daredevil. I saw the Jurassic Park one and it was hilarious. As a MST3K fan, I highly recommend Rifftrax.

I'm not sure we need MST3K because there's so many bad movies. I mean, it's not like those old 50s sci fi movies are going to actually hurt us. Those modern day tripes, maybe. But I can't believe that the cast didn't find the movies to be fascinating in some respect, to think about who these people were they were seeing on film, many of them deceased by the time they watched them. Each of these films have stories behind them of the people who make them. Especially for older movies, these people were making movies just to do something. Yeah, they often become bland pieces of dull celluloid, but there's just some kind of odd fascination to be had by them.
Yeah, I miss MST3K, and there are plenty of films still readily available for their riffing. I personally can't watch even a commercial without wondering what that guy and his bots would say (not that I could come up with something on my own). It was always fun to watch something and not feel like you're alone watching it, because you have these people sitting just one row ahead of you. I think the spirit of MST3K will definitely live on.
