Why do we write blogs??

I used to have an open online diary. I don't anymore. I still keep the diary, but I've made it private. I stumbled into a diary site by accident and found myself so entertained and drawn into what others were writing that I had to try it myself. At first, I wrote just general life type of stuff, nothing too personal or private. But having people read and comment on my writing motivated me to write daily, something I'd always wanted to do. Writing is such a solitary activity, and doing it in that format makes me more interactive. I also found that I made some good friends through that site. A few I have actually met and they are now part of my "real life" circle of friends. So I guess to me blogging is both a social activity and something that helped me to discipline my writing habits. I locked my diary because I made a choice to start writing about more personal things I didn't want out there for anyone to read, but as you can still I still love to do more "interactive" writing elsewhere!

A lot of people blog about their private lives and their feelings. I blog about ideas, mostly. I have one blog that's just on one subject, and another that's more general.
