Simple, discipline. If he learns that there are consequences for not listening to you and for raising his voice, he will stop. Its up to you to decide what type of disciplining is needed, but it is NECESSARY. Every child needs to be disciplined at some point. I know it can be hard as you always want to be nice and you want your kids to like you, but you can't be his friend, you have to be his parent.

Well, you are now dealign with a four-yr-old, I am sure, but since I just saw your post, I thought I'd respond for all the other mothers of 3-yr-olds out there.
This is an idea I blatantly stole from Nanny 911 and it works! If you watch how they do the tiem outs, what rules are applied, and make it clear to the child what you expect, this will work for you too.
We can have time out anywhere, just find an out-of-the-way spot where he can sit down. Then he is given a time out equal in minutes to the number of year she is old. For instance a 3-yr-old gets a 3 mintue time out, a 6-yr-old gets a 6 minute time out, etc.
The amount of time is just about perfect to give him time to understnad the situation, realize he has been punished, and calm down before rejoining us.
