According to ABC news, a sidewalk renovation is being rushed through before the oscar ceremony. They mentioned that the price of having a star on Hollywood Blvd. will be raised to $25,000. I had no idea the celebrity had to buy their own star.

I did not know that either. Does that mean that just anyone can have a star then? I thought it was a nomination thing or something along those lines. I never paid much attention to it though I guess.

The celebrities have to request to have a star and a board of whoever looks over the request and decides whether or not they get one, then after that they pay for the star and have to pay a yearly fee or whatever for the maintenance and cleaning of the star.

Of course that is not any big amount for a star. I thought they still had to be evaluated to find out if they were worthy of the star.

I didn't know that, either. I just assumed that the powers-that-be chose the stars and that it was just an honor that was given them; possibly a panel that voted each year. I guess money talks in that department, too.
