If you used drugs could you quit for your babies?

I have a friend that got pregnant and she was a big time druggie. We tried everything short of tying her down for 9 months to get her off of them. I could not understand why she would not think of her baby and the possibility that she could kill it. Thank goodness it was born alright. It had crying fits that the doctor said was because of the drugs. She still uses them though and has given up custody of her other two children becasue she could not afford them and her drugs. Why would someone let drugs screw them up liek that. She even stole my sons Concerta from me once. Is there anything I can do to help her or is she too far gone?
