Money may not be able to buy you happiness but offering a large enough cash reward to anyone who can find a way to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere could be the answer to solving the problem of catastrophic climate change. Steve Howard, chief executive of The Climate Group and an advisor to the judges, said: "For $25 million, people will do extraordinary things. It's to fire people up and say: 'let's do this.'"
The initial closing date for Branson's Earth Challenge is 8 February 2010. If the judges deem that no design submitted by that stage is worthy of the prize, it will re-open for two more year-long phases.
His five co-judges are former US vice president Al Gore, Jim Hansen, director of the NASA Goddard Institute, James Lovelock, the father of the Gaia theory, Australian conservationist Tim Flannery, and Crispin Tickell, director of the Policy Foresight Program at Oxford University, UK.
Do you think that we are going to have happy winner?
I hope so.

well i agree, the earth need to solve the green house gases problems, and i think one way to start is people walk more, ( that is where the jack pack come in handy) lol or ride a horse, but for $25 millions is not enough to solve the problem, could be the begining of it that is all, i think we need to plant more trees, look at all those trees that got burn, we need to plant more around the world, it would help alot.

It is not my section for sure. Maybe someone from chemistry can solve this problem. I am happy for All Gore good impact on Global warming. He lost election but in the end, see who is the winner.
I think that $25 millinos is very good reward for saving humanity, but it is worth much more.

There's too much money in fossil fuels and all the other things that pollute our planet. Already people have invented things that would help, and have been "discouraged" by big business of the government. I hope this prize will do some good, but although I hate to be cynical, I'm not hopeful that this will make a big difference.

For the sake of my children, grandchildren and the generations to follow, they have to find a winner. It's good to see a positive story on the news nowadays. Let's hope we get a winner before the closing date!
