The tv documentary How William Shatner Changed the World showed how the TV show star trek inspired a generation of scientists and inventors. One area they covered was the home computer revolution.
True, the first home microcomputer was named the Altair after a system referenced on a star trek episode. But the greater contribution was ignored. All the early PC systems from the Altair to the IBM pc had a star trek game. All of them! It can be argued it was the first killer app.
Maybe the basic compiler was more important at the time but the star trek game is probably the must have program of the time.
