time to pay for health and schools ?

Former Home Secretary Charles Clarke reckons hospitals and schools should be able to charge fees in order to meet the growing demands on our public services. Has he got a point? After all, if there’s truth in the old adage that you get what you pay for, maybe we need to recognise we can’t go on getting everything free forever. Or is that our right?

That's nice, but are they goingto reduce your taxes? Lets face it, we already pay enough taxes to keep schools and hospitals going for ages, yet the government cannot manage to keep anything going. Here in Alberta Canada, they opted out of the government funded plan and make uspay our own health care fees, at $46 a month, yet the hospitals are still underfunded. And its notbecause they aren't receiving any money for them The provincial government gets upwards of $100 million per month but complains they haven't got enough. Know why? because they pay the health department heads nore than a million a year in salaries. plus, they have 2000 people working for every department head. I say, reduce the burocracy, stop paying people million dollar salaries and suddenly there will be funds available. They don't need thousands of people to take in our money.
