Is todays society hard on our children?

Todays children are involved in more activities then any other time, achieving the lowest and highest grades of any group, and being pressured more and more by family, friends, and the media. Do we push the kids of today too far? Are we trying to make them into something we wish we could have been once upon a time. Are we spoiling them with things we have never had ourselves? What causes all of these pressures? Who is to blame?
