All my cats sleep curled up like regular cats, except at night when they are very relaxed - then they sleep on their backs.
I was once told that cats don't sleep on their backs because they are vulnerable in that position. I guess that means that my cats trust that they are safe in their home. lol.

And he's probably offended if you try to take some of his space. lol

My Cat loves to sleep on her back...Matter of fact it is kinda funny at times as I have seen her on her back with her one front paw covering her eyes. She has also slept on her back with one hind leg up in the air. I love watching her sleep, it is sooo sweet. Just watching a baby sleep. My last cat who we had to put to sleep a year ago he also loved to sleep on his back. So I guess my cats have alot of trust with us....

My cats also sleep curled up and they usually sleep with me and my wife but a few times my daughter says that one of the cats come and sleep with her. One of the cats also sleep on the couch. They sleep alot during the day and then at night they run around the house.

We've got 5 cats and they all basically have their
favorite spots and positions for sleeping.
One loves to curl up at my wife's feet or that spot
on the bed day or night. Another loves sleeping on
her chest when she can or on the desk in front of
the computer monitor. Another likes to get under the
covers or on the chair in front of the computer.
Another loves the back of the sofa or someone's lap.
The last one is still very young and hasn't quite
made up his mind but he likes under my wife's bed or
anywhere my wife's son is. ‹(°¿°)›

My cats sleep on my bed and always seem to sleep across the bed thus taking up the most space possible :)I'm not sure if they sleep on there backs or not, I'm usually asleep myself at the time:)

Isn't that just like a cat - taking up as much of the bed as possible. :)

i've seen my cat sleep on her back when she was younger. my sister was able to take a picture of her when she did that. now, i don't see her in that position anymore, or maybe i just haven't caught her. ^_^ but she's usually curled up or on her stomach.

I used to have a cat named Thomas and he used to sleep stretched out as far as possible with at least one paw in the air so that you would cath your stocking as you walked by as he always seemed to manage to twitch at the exact moment you passed, although he was always soundly asleep!

I have two cats. One will sleep curled up in the foot of my bed. The other shares my pillow, and she is flat on her back. The covers are pulled up to her chin with her paws out. It is so cute. And she snores to boot, too. Keeps me up all night. Hehhehe.

Just last night, my husband joked that we're going to have to buy swimming suits for our cats just so that they have some modesty.

My cats both sleep on their backs, they start off curled up and then stretch out upside down, the ginger one does also cover his eyes with his paws and sometimes snores!

My Nemo sleeps on his back every time he sleeps. He must trust the world. Even the baby cat sleeps on her back when she is in her basket.

My cats all pretty much sleep on their tummies or on their sides. They all love belly rubs. When I am on the computer one is on the back of my chair, one is on the table next to the desk, the two kittens are curled up on the desk in between me and the monitor. Thankfully I have a sliding keyboard shelf otherwise they would be on that. The other cat is normally curled up in the chair next to my desk. That is all of the female cats (except for one of the kittens-he is a boy but he goes wherever his sister is). Then there is Alvin. He spends most of his time sleeping on my bed up by the pillows. Every so often I catch him laying on his back with his head on the pillows. It is cute. At night when I am in bed all six of the kitties are there with me. I have gotten so used to it that I cannot sleep unless I have one of the cats in the bed with me. I guess it is a good thing that I live alone. :)

Six kitties! That's wonderful. My husband and I have four cats, and we love that they sleep with us. My female cat doesn't like the male cats, but they all manage to get along long enough to go to sleep on the bed most of the time. I know that my husband and I miss the cats when we have to sleep away from home. It just isn't the same, sleeping without cats. :)

2 of my cats love to sleep on their backs. Sometimes I laugh at the weird positions they put themselves in. Usually their hind legs are up in the air and one of them stretches their front paw straight out over their head. I've even seen them when their head and front part of their body are facing one way and their hind quarters are facing the opposite way, it reminds me of a pretzel, sort of.
I have another cat who at bedtime is always on the bed and faces her tummy up in the air because she loves us to pet it before she will go to sleep.

My cats sleep in the weirdest places and in the most weirdest style..lol. I guess it's true that cats do only sleep on their back if there trust the surroundings coz you dont see strays out there sleeping like that. PS: My cats snores as well..:)
