I have 2 young children and they have 4 grandparents. Both are still married and together.
Does anyone ever have the grandparent competition? I mean we live away from both set of grandparents and during christmas it was crazy.....The fedex and ups man were at my house everyday. See my mom and my mother in law feel the need to compete with each other. Who sends the most stuff to their grandkids? Whose sends the most expensive stuff? Then I got to sit and listen to them both hint around to find out what the other has sent and which gifts my son or daughter love more. It drives me crazy and its not just about gifts. They both will ask and see if my son or daughter asks for one or the other more. It is completely crazy to me.
I am the only one, tell me some of your war stories. LOL

in this family..I had two stes of grandparents..one chinese, the other black folks..and my chinese grandma would send me stuff like real old beautiful jewelray..when my american grandmother found out about that, she started digging up all this stuff from her mother and her mother's mother to give me..my grandfathers battle was cash..chinese grandpa would send me 500.00..my american grandpa would send me 650.00..lol..the real battle was my father and stepfather though..my real father made a lot more than my stepfather and every chance he got, he would try his best to make him look bad..and it always worked..lol..my father would wait until income tax time and give me 1000.00 knowing my stepfather didn't even work a "payroll job"..it was crazy..I miss those days..I still get the real nice jewelry from ym grandma in china, but I would prefer the cash..

That is so funny. I did have this problem wen my son was younger, but we fixed the problem. I refused to tell them what the other one got or said. I changed the subject when it came up and made the conversation all about them. That is a shame they have to compete. Thank goodness you live far away from them.

well, I wish ours was even close to that I have four children and for some reason their grandparents done pay much attention at all to them. In fact my MOM doesnt even call them on their birthdays or come to their parties. So I would actually welcome that type of treatment. Maybe to mediate and offer the info on a running standpoint you could make a spoil the grandchildren blog so they can check the web for their current ratings!! LOL

Ohh lawd...that's too much for me...I use to have that problem...But, not with just grandparents, great grandparents too...My son is the first grand and great-grandson in the family...(almost was a great-great grandson, but they both passed away 6 months before he was born)
It wasn't so much gifts, it was which house we was going to for holidays so they could personally give him gifts etc.....Atlanta, Ga. or Mobile Ala...lol
One says it's not fair, the other says you visited them more..
Too make a long story short, they all finally agreed to either come to Atlanta or we come down to Mobile for a couple days when I'm in Atlanta...
Everyone is happy now :)
