In the late 80's when I started my professional career I was making about 18K a year and by many standards I was the typical entry level working professional. Progessively, over the years as my experience grew so did my salary. And after taxes and other crap I was doing quite well until the year 2002.
Although the dot com failure did not effect my earning power the legislation and the atmosphere around the country did. My earning power has not changed much since 2000. But somehow when I look at my bills there are lot more taxes on it.
Also my cost of health care have tripled. Gas is expensive and not as much because the price of crude is high (many don't know this but the barrel does not directly translate to high gas prices !! different discussion).
All of these lead me to think there is a distinct effort being made to eliminate the middle class.
What do you think !!

We could argue all day about whether it was delibrate or not. We'd sound like conspiracy whack jobs, too. However, the fact of the matter is that the middle class is getting both smaller and less affluent. That's just simple fact.
