how possible is it to get caught downloading illegally off p2p programs

Ok, well I have alot of CDs that i bought a while ago. I tried ripping the music files from the disks to my computer. It works but they are really skippy and bad quality if you know what i mean. I think this is because they are very scratched up. I would like to download those songs off p2p programs. I can't afford to buy them all back and I would like to put those songs on my mp3 player. How possible is it to get caught by the FBI? What if i just downloaded some stuff without buying it before like most people do. Can someone please tell me exacly how possible it is to get busted? I would highly apreciate it.
