Who are they, in your opinion? They may be your favorite, or they may be in a band you don't like but still admire for their musicianship. Perhaps it's a drummer who influences your own drumming.
I don't even really have to think about my answer. Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, Quasi, the Jicks) and Zach Hill (Hella, Marnie Stern) are two of the greatest, if not THE greatest drummers alive today. Janet Weiss inspired me to start playing the drums when I was in high school, and both Janet and Zach have this amazing ability to make their drumming both rhythmic and melodic. They could write entire songs with just the drums and I would buy the CD.

The son of Ringo Starr, Zak Starsky or something, don't know it right, but he's fantastic.
He is know in the Who, and he toured with Oasis last year and the year before.

my favourite drummers are Nicko Macbrain(Iron Maiden) and Mike Portnoy(Dreamtheater). they both are in their own world when playing drums!! nicko of course crazy whereas muke is more efficient and gives really good prog rock offbeats!!!
