Statins........health improvers.......or health destroyers????

Hi,
Have you got ANY experience of taking statins?(eg SIMVASTATIN) Or do you know someone who has taken them? I have been prescribed them but refuse to take them as I have heard they can really mess you up. I really need to hear from you if you have anything to say on this subject.

i have been taking them for 3 or 4 years, & my mum and my husband take them. I think the important thing is to take them under medical supervision and ensure that your doctor screens you for risk factors at regular intervals. I have my liver function tested annually and it seems to be ok so far. All medications have potential side effects - its the doctors job to make sure that the benefits outweigh them in your particular case.
