Journalist killings increase around the world. Laws are construed haphazardly for no good reason. Politicians and other authoritative beings abuse their powers and restrain such freedom.

One of the reasons people respect freedom of speech is because of what those trying to protect it have endured from those trying to destroy it.
This is nothing new. In the McCarthy days, all over the world, the press of the Free World was a lot less free. The truth is that only those who stand up for their freedoms can have a chance of achieving them.
One other thing... repression always loses.
