Yes, I have been using it for a couple of weeks now.
I downloaded RC1 from Microsoft and did a clean install, which to my amazement took about 7 gigabytes of hard drive space.
The system has several compatability issues at the moment, and I am unable to install Nero, Norton Antivirus or even the drivers for my soundcard.
Security is another issue, because despite it,s effectiveness Vista is so protective that it becomes a pain trying tp perform simple tasks. I disabled the User Account Control to make basic operation easier.
I have now upgraded to Vista RC2 and there is a slight improvement so things are moving forward slowly.
The system is very versatile and obviously intended to eliminate the need for third party software, but naturally many of the included features do not compare with a standalone program.
Vista has the potential of developing into an excellent operating system once the software and hardware manufacturers catch up and produce compatable software and drivers, but there still appears to be a lot of work for Microsoft to do before the final release.
It is well worth trying, and now is the best time to try because you can still go to the Microsoft website to register for the Customer Preview Program and download a copy of Vista totally free. This has to be a better method of assessing the program than waiting until Vista is available on the market, particularly as Vista is scheduled to be a very expensive program.
One note of caution: Only consider downloading Vista if you are using a broadband connection because the download is more than 3 gigabytes.
